About

collage + textile artist

Lara I. Bros (she/hers) is a queer visual artist working in collage and textiles. Her current pieces explore practices of spirituality and divinity that have been coded feminine, such as tarot reading and candle magick. This work explores the rediscovery of the sacred within our own interpersonal relationships, and seeks to encourage different ways of participating with art practices. She explores themes of memory, the sacred, and how vulnerability (or fear of vulnerability) informs our perspectives, using her own and shared experiences.

Lara practices art in the spirit of abolition, believing that creative practices provide us with the imagination and different modes of thinking that we need to radically re-imagine our society and relationships with one another.

She crochets, works as an abortion and postpartum doula, and loves to bask in the sun. She has a BA in Art History from Drexel University, and lives in Queen Village with her cat, Fern, and her chosen family.
